RICHMOND has announced that it has signed Jack Riewoldt to a three-year contract extension with the club that will see him remain with the Tigers through at least to the end of the 2016 season.
“I genuinely love this football club and all it stands for, and I’m pleased to be part of the journey we’re on,” said Riewoldt via comments released by the club.
“I hope to repay the faith shown in me by the Club, and I’ll continue to give everything I have for the cause.”
Riewoldt, 24, was drafted by the Tigers with the 13th overall pick of the 2006 National Draft and has collected a heap or hardware with the Tigers including two Coleman Medals (in 2010 and again in 2012) as well as club awards that include the Jack Dyer Medal (2010) and three straight Michael Roach Medals as the club’s leading goalkicker. He has played a total of 128 games for the club so far.
“Jack is an incredibly loyal person, and he has great passion for the Richmond Football Club,” said the Tigers’ General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson.
“We are thrilled with Jack’s decision, and like a number of other players, he has committed to team success as his number one priority.”
Indeed as the Tigers prepare for their first finals game in twelve years their coach Damien Hardwick, has gone so far as to describe this year as the best in Riewoldt career.
“I think he’s grown in stature as a player, and as a leader also,” Hardwick said.
“He’s just been absolutely outstanding in the way he’s developed his game. We’re really pleased with the way he’s progressing at the moment.”
Richmond faces a real test this weekend when they play Sydney at the SCG on Sunday afternoon.
